The Story Behind Liminal Waters
Created in celebration of National Oceans Month, Liminal Waters is a series of four original paintings that explore the space between turbulence and transformation. Set against the mystery of the nocturnal sea, each work captures a moment when darkness is interrupted by a descending shaft of light, revealing a landscape suspended between uncertainty and hope.
Drawing inspiration from ancient sea narratives and the symbolic power of water, these paintings do not illustrate a specific story. Instead, they invite viewers into a universal experience—the passage through life's storms toward renewal. The ocean becomes a metaphor for challenge and change, while the light suggests guidance, grace, and the quiet presence of purpose, even when the way forward remains unseen.
In these atmospheric seascapes, darkness and light coexist rather than compete. Together they create a visual meditation on resilience, faith, and the transformative moments that emerge when we navigate the unknown.
